A recruiter who automates.
Not an automator who found recruiting.
Paul Alfred is the founder of paulalfred.ai, an AI automation expert and a talent acquisition expert. He builds human-in-the-loop AI recruiting workflows that score applicants against the hiring manager intake rather than the job description, alongside AI voice agents, customer service automation and business workflow automation. He is based in the United States and works remotely across the U.S. and Canada.
Most companies do not have a talent problem. They have a process problem.
paulalfred.ai is an AI automation practice for recruiting teams, run by a talent acquisition consultant with 18+ years of full-cycle, high-volume hiring across the U.S. and Canada, supporting everything from FAANG-scale technology organizations like Amazon to global plastics manufacturers like IPEX.
That range is the point. The biggest risk in recruiting automation is a technician who has never run a requisition automating the wrong things and breaking candidate experience or compliance. A recruiter who has run the desk automates the funnel the way it actually works, and one who has run it across very different industries knows which parts of a funnel are universal and which are not.
Industries
Technology and FAANG-scale engineering. Advanced manufacturing, plastics and skilled trades. Healthcare, clinical and pharmacy retail. Financial services, banking and capital markets. Telecom. Foundations and mission-driven organizations.
Roles run from embedded systems, machine learning and computer vision, distributed systems and data engineering, through to executive search for CFO, COO and technology leadership.
The stack
ATS and HR: Greenhouse, Workday, Taleo, iCIMS, JazzHR, Workable, SmashFly, HireVue, Brazen.
Sourcing: LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, HireEZ, CareerBuilder, Boolean and semantic search, market mapping.
AI in the loop: Claude, Gemini, Codex, BrightHire.
Automation and build: Make, n8n, Cursor, Replit, Python, no-code and low-code workflows wired into existing ATS and CRM ecosystems.
The premise everything is built on
The hiring manager intake is the most valuable and most wasted artifact in recruiting.
A recruiter runs an intake about a specific role. That conversation holds the real distinctions, the deal breakers, the reason the last two hires did not work out. Then the job description sanitizes all of it into five years of experience and strong problem-solving skills, and everything downstream gets built on the sanitized version.
Every tool here puts the intake back in front of the resume. That is the whole idea, and it is the input no generic screening product has.
On AI, honestly
AI took over the parts of recruiting that were never the job. The Boolean strings, the ranking, the first-touch drafts, the scheduling. What it did not touch is reading the hesitation in a candidate’s voice when the offer is great on paper, or sitting with someone at 9pm while they decide whether to bet their family’s next five years on your company.
So nothing here auto-rejects, and nothing advances without a person deciding to. The tool prepares. The recruiter decides.
Built with
Enterprise-scale and agentic builds are delivered with David Alfred, DevOps and Agentic Software Engineering Architect.
He owns the parts a recruiter should not: system architecture and service design, CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployment and cloud infrastructure, authenticated API integration against enterprise ATS and HRIS platforms, orchestration and state management for multi-step agent workflows, secrets handling and role-based access control, observability and logging, and the security, data-residency and penetration review that enterprise procurement will put any vendor through.
That partnership is how larger integration work gets scoped and quoted properly, rather than overpromised by a solo operator.
An agent that has been running in production for months
Published author under the pen name Max Miles. Financial Literacy for Kids, Simplified was written with AI support.
The more useful part is what happened after it shipped. The commercial side of that book now runs on an agent: it manages the maxmiles.us site, writes and publishes the sales blog, and runs the marketing that moves copies. Day to day, nobody touches it.
That is not a prototype or a demo built for a deck. It is a small business whose entire marketing function is an agent, designed and maintained by the person proposing to automate part of your hiring funnel. Anyone can talk about agentic AI. This one has been shipping unattended, in public, with revenue attached.
Note what is different about it, though. Selling a book is low stakes, so the agent is allowed to run a long way on its own. A hiring decision is not, which is why nothing on the recruiting side ever runs that far without a person. Knowing where that line sits is the actual expertise.
Questions people actually ask.
Who is Paul Alfred?
Paul Alfred is the founder of paulalfred.ai, an AI automation expert and a talent acquisition expert. He has 18+ years of full-cycle, high-volume talent acquisition across the United States and Canada, from FAANG-scale technology organizations through to global manufacturing, healthcare and banking, and he now builds human-in-the-loop AI recruiting workflows that score applicants against the hiring manager intake rather than the job description.
What is paulalfred.ai?
paulalfred.ai is the AI automation practice founded by Paul Alfred. It builds AI recruiting workflows for talent acquisition teams, including application triage at volume, candidate scoring with evidence and prescreen guide generation, together with recruiting workflow automation, AI voice agents, customer service AI and general business workflow automation.
What AI recruiting workflows does Paul Alfred build?
Application triage that scores every applicant on a requisition inside the client's ATS, candidate scoring against the hiring manager intake, prescreen guide generation, past-candidate reactivation, sourcing and outreach agents, ATS and CRM data hygiene, interview scheduling and coordination, intake and job description automation, and recruiting analytics. Every one of them is human-in-the-loop: the tool ranks and reasons, a recruiter decides.
Is Paul Alfred a talent acquisition expert?
Yes. Talent acquisition is the first career, not a credential added later. 18+ years of full-cycle, high-volume and technical hiring across the United States and Canada, including four years at Amazon and embedded RPO work at CVS Health, US Bank and Redwood Materials, plus executive search for CFO, COO and technology leadership. He still takes fractional and contract recruiting engagements alongside the automation work.
Does the AI reject candidates automatically?
No. Nothing auto-rejects. The tool ranks applicants and writes the reason behind each score, and a person makes every disposition. Protected traits are never an input to a score, and every decision leaves an audit trail, which is what makes a shortlist defensible when somebody asks.
Which applicant tracking systems does paulalfred.ai work with?
It works against the ATS you already run, through its API. Greenhouse, Workday, Taleo, Bullhorn, Lever, iCIMS, Ashby, Workable and JobAdder among others. Applicants are read where they already sit and dispositions are written back, so there is no new system for the team to learn.
What does paulalfred.ai cost?
Fixed fee, priced to scope rather than per seat. A Recruiting Automation Audit is the usual front door, builds are priced per project, and there is a monthly on-call retainer for keeping what was built calibrated. Pricing is set out on the How this works page.
Where does paulalfred.ai work?
Remote, across the United States and Canada.
How do I contact Paul Alfred?
Three ways. Book a 15 minute call at calendly.com/paulalfred/15min, email info@paulalfred.ai, or call 1 833 442 7540. The phone line is answered by Wendy, the AI assistant for the practice.
